For more than 10 years, River Hills Recovery Center has help thousands of people begin their recovery journey. Jackson Recovery Centers started River Hills as an outpatient office to help professionals in the community with their addictions. As the need for these services quickly grew, Jackson broke ground on a new facility for River Hills in 2010.
Over the years, River Hills has continued to grow its addiction treatment services, while at the same time expanding to include several other specialized areas. River Hills now offers process/behavioral addictions, such as gambling, sex, shopping and eating, mental health services, Interventions and children’s therapy services. Jackson’s professional staff, consisting of physicians, psychiatric ARNPs, along with licensed and credentialed therapists, works with each individual and their family to help build stronger relationships.
When it comes to helping those with substance use, interventions may be needed to help a person realize they have an addiction and need treatment. Jackson offers a free initial consultation with the family to assess the next steps. From there, Jackson’s highly-trained staff will work with each family to walk them through each phase of the intervention.
Besides substance use and co-occurring disorder, Jackson also offers services for process or behavioral addictions, such as gambling. With the help from a grant from the Iowa Department of Public Health, Jackson wants to make sure that money for treatment is not a barrier. For Iowa residents, Jackson provides its gambling services on a sliding scale based on a person’s income.
In addition to services related to substance use treatment, River Hills offers comprehensive therapy and psychiatric services for children who may be struggling with mental health and behavioral concerns at home and school. On-site therapists provide child assessment and therapy services such as Play, Sand tray, and Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). River Hills also provides psychiatric services for psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis and treatment. Follow up services, including medication management by Psychiatric/Mental Health ARNPs are also included. Many children benefit from both of these types of services. The team at River Hills also includes nurses, who assist with collaboration and care coordination with these children, families, schools and community support services.
